About La Paz

Here is a little bit of information about La Paz where we will be going for 2 days of R & R.

Please note that this is general information. We are still doing our research and planning, so we do not know if we will see any of the specific places mentioned below.

R & R

Our team will spend 2 R&R days in La Paz, Bolivia's largest metropolitan area, and get to know a bit more about the northern part of Bolivia after completion of our work in Tarija.

Dave and Susi are busy researching all the best that La Paz has to offer, and will be updating this page as they learn more and begin to choose specific accommodations, activities, etc. Dave & Susi's love of nature and the outdoors will frequently take them to parks and preserves, but they are also eager to explore the art and culture of the area. They will actively seek out the comments and desires of any team members who choose to tour with them as they make the final selections.

World's Highest Capital City

Located in the Andes Mountains over 11,000 feet above sea level, surrounded by peaks soaring to 21,000 feet, and with its international airport over 13,000 feet, La Paz promises breathtaking "top of the world" views as noted at Lonely Planet:

The first glimpse of sky-high La Paz will, literally, take your breath away. The city's buildings cling to the sides of the canyon and spill spectacularly downwards.

La Paz is the administrative capital of Bolivia and home to more than 1.3 million people. Well preserved plazas and bronze statues dating to the 16th century make it a wonderful city in which to wander on foot and enjoy magnificent architecture, or shop for hand-crafted silver and intricate weavings in the artisans market.
